It's time to get those cool crops planted for the spring season. An easy way to begin is to build a raised bed. Raised beds can be made out of 4 ft. x 5 ft. lengths of cedar or redwood. If you live in an area where the cold temperatures may still be a problem make your raised bed into a cold frame by attaching a lid made from 1" x 2" pieces of wood to sit on top of the raised bed. Add a good grade fencing wire in a dome shape to the lid and cover with a commercial plastic drop cloth. This will protect your early spring plantings.
See Marvin's design below for raised beds.
We will be selling some of our own home grown produce at our local farmer's market this spring and summer. Raised beds can supply fresh veggies for your whole family and even your entire neighborhood! With these tough economic times it just makes sense to to grow your own fresh produce!
See the "Itinerary" for our upcoming events! Support your local farmer's markets and check out the fresh produce they have to offer! Hope to see you there!
